EMMA: How to Format Date/Time Cells to Import
If you have a field/cell in Excel that has both a date stamp and a time stamp in the same cell and you wish to remove the time stamp from the cell (in order to import into Emma) please use the first set of instructions below.
PLEASE NOTE: If there are any letters in the field/cell with the date/time stamp, you will need to use the second set of instructions below **
FIRST SET OF INSTRUCTIONS:
- Highlight the column you wish to adjust
- Right Click – Select Format Cells
- Click “Date”
- Select the “MM/DD/YYYY” option
- Click “Finish”
**SECOND SET OF INSTRUCTIONS:
- Add a column to the right of the column that contains the fields you wish to adjust
- Highlight the column you wish to adjust
- Click “Data”
- Click “Text to Columns”
- Choose “Fixed Width”
- Click “Next”
- Click to add a line or break where you wish to split the date and the time stamp (FOR QR, you need to add the line between the time stamp and the AM/PM)
- Click “Next”
- Click “Finish”
- Delete the column to the right with the time stamp in it.
PLEASE NOTE: Because this process splits the data into two separate columns, you will need to re-type your column headers as the process splits a portion of that header text into the column header to the right.
